On Nov. 19, 2011, as our father, Harold Hanson, was leaving the Boston College/Notre Dame football game, he suffered a heart attack. If it were not for the swift action of spectator Steve Lotsbach, critical care EMS provider from Indianapolis, who provided the initial CPR and the emergency medical staff in place at Notre Dame, including Memorial Hospital ER physician Dr. Mark Walsh, along with Jeff Stoneburner and Mike Pollock from the South Bend Fire Department, our Dad would not be alive today.

Once at Memorial Hospital, cardiologist Dr. Omar Ali assumed his care. Because of his efforts and the ER staff, Leighton Heart & Vascular Center and the ICU, he is recovering. We appreciate the expertise and professionalism of Dr. Ali, the cardiac cath lab staff, the cardiac cath lab nurses, Heart & Vascular nurses, Catherine, Pam, Nathan, Whitney and Amanda, and patient care assistants, Sara and Cari.

Thank you to Marti, Heart & Vascular charge nurse, and the social worker/case managers. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mike Seamon, VP of Campus Safety at Notre Dame, for having wonderful staffing on-site. We are grateful for the compassion shown to our family. Thankfully, our Dad is now recovering back in Boston.
